Notes from the woodpile
Mini chainsaw battery life, charging and care
A cordless mini chainsaw is only as useful as its battery. Here is what to expect from Tietoc 21V packs, how to charge them, and the habits that keep them working for seasons.

How long does a mini chainsaw battery last?
A Tietoc 21V 2000mAh battery gives roughly 30 to 40 minutes of cutting. That is cutting time, not clock time: most yard work involves walking, stacking and moving branches between cuts, so one pack often covers a good part of an afternoon. The 4000mAh packs on the 8-inch saw run up to about 40 minutes on the longer bar, and the two 4000mAh packs on the 2-in-1 pole saw give 80 to 100 minutes between them. Hard, dry wood and a dull chain both shorten run time.
How to charge a Tietoc mini chainsaw
- Slide the battery off the saw
- Connect it to the included charger and plug the charger into the wall
- Wait for the full indicator — about 1.5 hours for a 2000mAh pack
- Let a hot battery cool for a few minutes after cutting before charging
Most packs have a charge-level gauge, so you can check what is left before you start a job.
2000mAh or 4000mAh?
Capacity is how much energy the battery stores. A 4000mAh pack holds about twice as much as a 2000mAh one and weighs a little more. For pruning and short jobs, 2000mAh is plenty and keeps the saw light. For long sessions, 8-inch bars and pole saws, the bigger packs make sense. Either way, two batteries beat one big one: you can keep cutting while the other charges.
Making batteries last
- Charge a new battery fully before first use
- Do not leave packs in a hot car or in direct sun
- Store batteries indoors, off the saw, at around half charge over winter
- Top them up every couple of months during storage
- Replace a battery that swells, gets very hot when charging or stops holding a charge
Spare 21V batteries and replacement chargers are sold separately in the parts line.
